Improve Your Recommendations

Improve your recommendations by rating your purchased items, or by excluding certain purchases from being considered in your recommendations, for example, gifts you purchased.

To improve your recommendations:

  1. Go to Improve Your Recommendations.
  2. Rate a purchased item: choose a rating of 1 to 5 stars for the item you purchased or choose to leave the item unrated. The ratings you submit are private. They are never shared with other Amazon customers and do not affect the average customer review for the item. These ratings are only used by our recommendations system to give you the most accurate recommendations possible.
  3. Exclude certain purchased items from being considered in your recommendations: Select I prefer not to use this for recommendations next to the item you purchased.
    • If you're unsure why we're recommending a particular item, select the category in Your Recommendations. If you select View All & Manage, you’ll see a Why recommended? link under the category header. If you select that link, we'll show you which of your previous ratings, wish list additions, or purchases influenced our suggestion.
    • You can tell us about an item you like, even if you didn't purchase it on Amazon. Locate the item on Amazon, and then write a review and add a rating for it. We'll use that rating in our recommendations system.
