Using Amazon PayCode

Amazon PayCode is available as a local currency, cash payment method in the United States and other select destinations.

Amazon PayCode appears as an available payment method for eligible orders at checkout. When using Amazon PayCode for the first time, you need to verify your identity and complete a payer registration form based on the requirements for your country. We share this information with the processing partner for the purpose of processing your payment. After you place your order, you receive a unique 9-digit PayCode.

Paying for your order

If you don't pay the balance before the PayCode expiration date in your order confirmation email, your order cancels automatically. To make a payment for your order, follow these steps:

  1. Visit a participating location before the PayCode expiration date.
  2. Tell the cashier that you want to pay for your Amazon order in cash.
  3. Present the 9-digit PayCode and a government-issued photo ID to the cashier. The name on the photo ID needs to match the name on the order.

Your payment receipt from the participating location is a confirmation that your order is entering the shipping process. Present this receipt to the participating location for any payment disputes.

Returns and Refunds

To return an item, go to our Online Returns Center. Refunds in the form of an Amazon.com Gift Card are only available for orders shipping to the United States. If your order is eligible and you choose to receive a gift card, the refund amount automatically applies to your gift card balance when we receive and process the return.

For cash refunds, we provide you a 9-digit Refund Code. Orders that contain multiple items, an import fee deposit, or a shipping fee receive multiple Refund Codes. When you redeem your first Refund Code, you'll receive the next Refund Code. This may require multiple trips to the agent location.

To collect your cash refund, follow these steps:

  1. Visit a participating location.
  2. Tell the cashier you want to collect a cash refund from Amazon.
  3. Present the 9-digit Refund Code and a government-issued photo Id to the cashier. The name on the photo ID needs to match the name on the order.

If you're in the United States, claim your cash refund within 30 days. If you don't claim a cash refund within 30 days, we automatically issue the refund as an Amazon.com Gift Card to your account.

Note: For international orders, the exchange rate shows below your order total at the time of purchase. If you return the item, the same exchange rate applies. If you don't claim a cash refund within six months, we issue a gift card in U.S. dollars to your account.
